Prayer times screens.
A practical starting point.

What to buy, what to check and how the pieces fit together — based on practical mosque experience and current provider guidance.

This is a practical guide for your own team. 46.media provides website services only; we do not supply, install or support screen hardware or donation terminals.

1. Start with your account

Create a Masjidbox account and submit your organisation’s legal details and supporting documentation for approval. A Charity Commission registration document is a useful option for a UK charity; Masjidbox decides which documents it accepts.

2. Choose the equipment

A screen that people can read

Our practical preference is a Philips 4K TV with Ambilight. Choose the size around the room, viewing distance and text size: larger screens can make information easier to read from the back. Ambilight is optional; Masjidbox only requires a suitable HDMI display.

Masjidbox Player

We recommend buying the dedicated player directly from Masjidbox rather than configuring an alternative device. Its published price is €199. Budget for any UK import VAT and carrier charges shown for your order. In our experience UPS has handled delivery and import-charge collection; the carrier and charges may differ.

3. Plan automatic on and off times

A Meross smart plug is our practical recommendation for scheduling power. A correctly rated extension can let the TV and player share one schedule. Check the combined load and follow the equipment instructions.

We have used scheduled power with several screens. On compatible TVs, the player starting up can trigger the TV to select HDMI through HDMI-CEC. This depends on the exact TV’s power-restoration behaviour, HDMI-CEC settings and player; test a complete shutdown and restart before relying on it.

Leave enough startup time before the screen is needed. Use the TV’s own schedule or a supported shutdown method where possible, and avoid interrupting device updates.

4. Link the player and set your timetable

Connect power, HDMI and a reliable internet connection. Pair the player with your mosque in the Screens area of the Masjidbox dashboard using the displayed code. Set the mosque’s Adhan and Iqamah times, check the date and timezone, then test readability from the normal seating positions.

The player supports automatic startup and cached offline display. Internet is needed to receive timetable and content changes.

5. Choose the screen plan

FreePrayer times and core display features. Suitable as a starting point.
Screens SilverPublished at €29/month or €319/year. Adds announcements, image and video content and expanded playlist management.

The sterling equivalent varies with exchange rates and taxes. Check the dashboard for the exact charge and confirm how the subscription covers multiple screens at the same location before ordering.

Do not assume custom announcement text is included in Free: the current help guide places announcements and media in Silver.

6. Keep your channels connected

Masjidbox brings prayer times into its screen, app and website products. Depending on your chosen services, your community can follow the same mosque timetable through its mobile apps and Masjidbox Pages.

For your own website, Masjidbox offers embeddable widgets. Its current help guidance says there is no public prayer-times API. Custom website styling therefore needs an assessment of approved access, widget options or supported exports; it is not an automatic entitlement with an account.
