Donation terminals.
Choose with confidence.
An independent introduction to reader options, account setup and donation settings for your mosque’s own team.
This is a practical guide for your own team. 46.media provides website services only; we do not supply, install or support screen hardware or donation terminals.
1. Fixed or handheld?
A handheld reader can be useful when collecting during Jumuah; a secure fixed reader can suit an entrance or donation point. Think about where people queue, supervision, Wi-Fi coverage and the nearest power socket.
| Reader | Published UK hardware price | Considerations |
|---|---|---|
| Stripe S700 | £229 | Handheld or countertop; Wi-Fi. |
| Stripe S710 | £229 | Wi-Fi plus cellular capability. Cellular service has an additional ongoing charge. |
| Stripe T600 | £249 | Larger countertop display. Confirm Masjidbox app compatibility and ordering availability before purchase. |
Budget separately for VAT, shipping, accessories and any connectivity charges. The supplier checkout is authoritative.
2. Complete donation account verification
Set up Donations in the Masjidbox portal and complete the Stripe verification steps, including the organisation and payout information requested. An existing Stripe login alone does not guarantee the required Masjidbox connection is complete.
Confirm the correct account and supported reader before buying. Hardware may be ordered through the Masjidbox terminal-order flow, with Stripe handling fulfilment, or directly where your account supports it.
3. Connect and pair the reader
Connect the reader to Wi-Fi and power, and allow time for initial updates. In the Masjidbox Donations terminal section, add a terminal and enter the registration or pairing code shown on the device. Give it a clear location label.
All three listed readers support Wi-Fi. S710 adds cellular connectivity when a compatible service is activated. Offline collection, where enabled by the app and reader setup, is a temporary fallback: payments can fail when later submitted, so confirm limits with Masjidbox and reconnect promptly. Do not treat it as guaranteed payment approval.
4. Understand the ongoing costs
Masjidbox currently publishes a terminal app subscription of €10 per month per device, plus Stripe transaction charges. This is separate from buying the hardware. Check the invoice currency and tax treatment for your organisation rather than assuming £10.
5. Set up the donation experience
Assign campaigns and choose the donation layout available in your portal. In the Flash mode setup we have used, six suggested amount cards appear alongside a custom amount option. Check this on your installed app version.
Where enabled, configure the QR-code display period so donors can complete details such as a Gift Aid declaration. You can also review the option to ask donors to contribute towards processing fees. Test each flow with your team, including amounts, confirmation screens and the return to the next donation.
6. Cases, mounting and power
For table or handheld S700/S710 use, consider a compatible protective case from Stripe or the accessories offered through Masjidbox. For a wall position, choose a secure mount made for the exact reader and case combination.
S700/S710 use USB-C charging; T600 is USB-C powered. Measure the route to the power socket, use a suitable cable and supply, and keep cables secured away from walkways. A protective case is not automatically a secure wall mount.
